Welcome to Die Mas Boerdery! Die Mas is directly translated as being
the mast of a ship giving it the driving force to go forward and
conquer...Also “mas” plays tongue in the cheek with the word
‘Kakamas. Therefore Die Mas van Kakamas and its three-mast ship
symbol represent Vlok and his family who run the estate and strive
to become a mast or positive driving force in the community they are
serving.
In English the word boerdery means farm or place where
farming takes place. In our case the main focus is on export table
grapes. The farm is situated 3km outside the town of Kakamas
directly on the bank of the Orange River in the Northern Cape
province of South Africa. This area is very well known and suited
for growing grapes, in particular table grapes. Reason for this
being the early time of ripening for export grapes from this area.
The farm has also recently expanded ventures into tourist
accommodation and the production of their own wine.
